Towards the end of 2023, I was given an opportunity to shoot this BMW CSL for a private collector. The car is part of a much larger collection of cars, most of them coming from the BMW stable, and many of them being damn near as impressive as this CSL, if not quite as rare.

This shoot posed a real challenge, as we were in a rather tight garage, and could only move the car twice throughout the entire shoot. This car is destined as a collector's item, rather than a car to be driven, so continuously cold-starting the car, only to shut it off again a few seconds later was not on the owners "want to do" list.

I experimented with different types of light, that I had never shot with before, and can only say that I am happy with the results. Being given full "no hold barred" access to this car in a proper location would have been the ultimate, but I cannot say that I am displeased with what I managed to do with this car under the imposed restrictions.
